When the Light Itself Is the Detail
Most neon flex profiles are designed to disappear — to produce a smooth, seamless glow while the silicone body stays visually neutral. The 16×16mm Honeycomb variant does the opposite. The face of the silicone profile is moulded with a repeating hexagonal honeycomb pattern that becomes visible and luminous when the LED strip inside is powered on. Each hexagonal cell glows individually, creating a textured, layered light effect that makes the neon flex itself a design statement rather than just a light source.
This is an empty profile — supplied as a bare silicone extrusion without an LED strip. You choose and insert the LED strip that suits your project: single colour, tunable white, RGB, or RGBWW. In all other respects — body dimensions, installation method, Top Bending flexibility, and weatherproofing — the honeycomb profile is identical to the standard 16×16mm. Only the diffuser face is different, and that difference changes the character of the light completely.
The Honeycomb Effect — How It Works
The silicone body is the same transparent or lightly frosted material as any neon flex profile. The difference is the face panel — the diffuser surface is moulded with hexagonal cells rather than left flat. When the LED strip inside glows, the light fills each hexagonal cell and makes its edges visible. The face of the neon flex appears as a grid of glowing hexagons rather than a continuous bar of light. The character of the light is set by whichever LED strip you insert — the honeycomb diffuser amplifies it with texture. The pattern is on the neon flex itself — not a projection onto the surrounding surface.
Standard vs Honeycomb — Spot the Difference
Smooth flat diffuser. Produces a continuous, uniform glow. The silicone face appears as a single bar of light with no visible pattern. Ideal for seamless architectural cove lighting where the light source should be invisible.
Hexagonal honeycomb diffuser. Each cell glows individually, creating a textured pattern on the face of the neon flex. The light source is a visible, decorative element. Ideal when the neon flex itself is part of the design.
Profile Specifications
When to Specify Honeycomb over Standard
If the neon flex is concealed in a cove and only the wash of light on the wall or ceiling is visible, use the standard smooth profile — the diffuser pattern won't be seen. If the neon flex is visible to the occupant — surface-mounted on a feature wall, used as a bar counter edge, exposed in a retail display, or applied to an architectural feature — choose the honeycomb. The hexagonal pattern adds a layer of visual texture that the standard profile cannot. The effect is particularly strong at close viewing distances where individual cells are clearly resolved.
Key Features
Honeycomb Diffuser Face
Hexagonal pattern moulded into the silicone face panel. Each cell glows individually when powered — the texture is inherent to the profile, not a cover or accessory.
Top Bending
Flexes up and down along its length — follows ceiling coves, curved wall reveals, and arched surfaces. Installs exactly like any standard 16×16mm neon flex.
Weatherproof Silicone
UV-resistant silicone body rated IP65 with correct end caps. Suitable for exterior feature walls, outdoor bar fronts, and landscape feature lighting.
Any LED Strip Inside
Single-colour, tunable white, RGB, and RGBWW LED strips are all compatible. The empty channel accepts any strip that fits — the honeycomb diffuser works beautifully with all of them.
100m Roll
Supplied in 100-metre rolls as an empty silicone extrusion. Cut to your required length on site and insert the LED strip of your choice.
Cuttable to Length
The silicone body can be cut to any required length on site — trim to size, insert the strip, and seal the ends with end caps.
